Lion’s Gate Portal Ceremony & Ritual
Friday, August 8 / 4:30-6:00pm CT on Zoom

The Lion’s Gate Portal refers to a period of Leo season — late July to mid-August — when the “dog star” Sirius aligns with the Sun, the Earth, and the constellation Orion, generating big cosmic energy we can use to set intentions, cast our visions into the Universe, and commit ourselves to bolder action.

The “height” of this super-solar energy (since Sirius is the brightest star after the Sun) is said to take place on August 8 (or 8/8), when the double-magic of this number invites us into abundance, renewal, success, and cosmic balance.

Because this alignment occurs during Leo season, it’s called the Lion’s Gate Portal, and I love working with this date to reconnect with my dreams and aspirations for the year, and embrace the solar energy that dominates summertime.

In this workshop, happening on the day of the Lion’s Gate Portal, we’ll use Tarot, guided meditation, self-reflection, and intention-setting to harness the power of this cosmic alignment and call in the blessings and magic we’re ready to experience.

Reading Tarot for Your Main Character
A virtual field trip offered through Creative Mornings
Wednesday, August 13 / 4pm CDT

For writers creating fictional works, this workshop guides you through a Tarot reading based on a character you’re working with and writing about.

Using a special 10-card spread, we’ll explore your character’s psychology, experiences, and what they’re up against as they move through the plot of your narrative. You’ll get affirmations on things you already understand about your character, but also more depth and complexity than you realized before.

We know plot flows from the characters’ desires, actions, and words, so getting to know our characters deeply is essential. This exercise is also great for writers looking to start a new story, or seeking for fresh inspiration.

No experience with Tarot needed.

Register for free here. A recording will be shared after. You’ll have to create an account with Creative Mornings, but it’s worthwhile — they offer a lot of free resources for creatives.

Creative Mornings Club: Tarot for Creativity
Wednesday, August 13 / 6:30-7:45pm CT
Opa! Greek Cafe (2050 S. Lamar Blvd.., Austin, Texas 78704)

Tarot is a beautiful tool for sparking creative ideas, sorting out creative dilemmas, and finding inspiration to keep creating.

We can use Tarot — whether or not we’re familiar with it — to mix things up in our creative practice and find new directions, answer the questions that have been plaguing us, or bring a little ritual into our creative play.

In these sessions, a professional Tarot reader and creativity coach will offer prompts using the cards to begin each session. You can work on any project you want, with materials provided for creative play. No experience with Tarot required!

Through circular, connected breathing and evocative music, somatic breathwork moves you into an expanded state of consciousness, where your Inner Healer becomes your guide, helping you release stuck emotions through movement, visions, and vocalizations.

An arts pop-up exploring the human experience through Tarot…

In these wild times, it feels like we’re all riding the Wheel of Fortune. Or perhaps getting run over by it! But the Wheel of Fortune archetype is here to help us navigate colossal change.

AUGUST 🧙🏼‍♀️ A Brief History of Witchcraft with Robin Gow: Let’s time-travel together and become more acquainted with the history of witchcraft — and various definitions of what the term “witchcraft” even means. Come away with a new reading list and personal questions you’re curious to explore in relation to the witches who came before us.

SEPTEMBER 💸 Money Magic with money coach Nadine Zumot: Join money energetics coach (and CMC member) Nadine Zumot as we get curious about our relationship with the BIG DOLLAR, the human abstraction that pervades our lives! Through meditation, somatic exploration, and journaling, we’ll identify an element of our “money psychology” that could use a little love and attention.

OCTOBER ♎️ Reading Your Natal Chart with Tarot Archetypes: It’s possible to recreate and represent your astrological natal chart through all 78 of the Tarot archetypes. I’ll guide us through this process of laying out your chart. We’ll look at how the cards talk to one another across your chart and what that reveals about your nature, your life path, and your “work” in this lifetime. With lots of reflection questions to help you deepen the inquiry afterwards (if you like!).

NOVEMBER 🥀 Grief as a Portal for Magic & Creativity: We make space for one of the most challenging emotions we experience as humans — and we honor our grief through writing, ritual, and creativity, inviting the alchemy that’s possible when we honor the wide expanse of our loss and love.

DECEMBER ❄️ Creative Coven — Winter Solstice: We close out the year with a guided ritual honoring and celebrating Winter Solstice. We’ll reflect on our latest turn around the sun, and invite deeper reflection through the winter months as we prepare and dream for the year to come.
