Creative Channel

A six-week guided journey to bring more flow, clarity, purpose & magic into your creative life… so you can go deeper, make the art that calls to you & stay deeply connected to your Creative Channel!

With supported solo travel & a few group meet-ups along the way.

September 1 - October 13

In my long, winding creative journey, I’ve come to see Creativity as an energy — and I suspect it’s the same powerful energy behind the whole divine consciousness of the Universe!

Lucky humans like us are Creative Channels — earthly conduits who channel the energy of The Great Creatrix (or GC, as I call her) to bring beautiful things into the world, to articulate our human experience, and to connect in meaningful ways with fellow humans.

The GC is always here for us, always available to us. But we’re not always available for her!

However, our relationship with The Great Creatrix grows when we honor and acknowledge her, tend to her offerings, and we trust ourselves to receive the gifts she brings. What a glorious thing to live here on Earth, channeling a cosmic consciousness to make art, tell stories, and build beautiful things that outlast our mortal lives!

Except that humans have been creating other things, too — systems that separate us from our nature, resources, joy, and creativity — which is why many of us struggle to connect with our Creative Channel, to stay connected with the GC who offers so much magic and nourishment.

I see it all the time with my clients — and I’ve experienced it myself!

❤️‍🔥 You want to create, but there’s so little time or energy to draw from after everything else you have to do in order to live.

😒 You try to create, but then doubt yourself, wondering if you should even bother since you “don’t know what you’re doing” or how it will turn out…

🪓 You find creative flow, but the second you step back, your inner critic is beating you down with its scrutiny axe and perfectionism hammer…

😫 You get paid for your creative work because you want to do something creative for a living, but then you constantly bump up against the corrupting forces of capitalism, which makes everything feel more confusing, icky, and hard.

That’s why (imo!) The GC brought me the inspired idea for Creative Channel — to help more people reignite their creative channel together — thoughtfully, subtly, and magically using a lot of what I know works, like small subtle tweaks that open up big portals and pathways for change.

Does this ring true for you?

💃🏼 You’re ready to feel more grace and ease in your creative practice — so you can recognize when you’re in different creative seasons and then know what to give yourself while you’re there…

🌀 You’d love to feel connected to The GC, like, all the time, without feeling as though you constantly need to work at something, or get it right…

🤩 You’d like more clarity about what you’re creating (or want to create next) and how to lead yourself through that process with more ease, motivation, and purpose…

🏡 You’ve been away from Creativity for a while, and you’re ready to come home again — for real…

💥 You’re ready to better understand yourself as a Creative Channel and how this can blow your life wide open…

If you relate, Creative Channel was designed with you in mind!

I know how it is. It’s simply easier, most days, to spend your spare time scrolling or skimming email or rewatching Friends (again!) as a little reprieve from the stress of headlines and deadlines and errands and caring for those we love. But the distractions don’t do much to restore peace or sanity. It’s simply convenient, available, an escape that soothes through numbing rather than nourishing.

But if we can shift our attention, receptivity, and actions — even in small ways! — we can open up a lot of space — and time! — for Creativity to work its magic in our lives. And this is the kind of “distraction” that does actually renew our energy, lighten the load we’re carrying, and offer us a sense of hope.

Here’s what can shift when we make small, steady changes…

🍎 When inspiration hits while you’re unloading the groceries, you allow yourself to jot down a note in your mini-Moleskine before you finish loading the salad greens into the fridge. So the idea gets honored, instead of slipping off into the ethers.

✨ While you’re waiting for your partner to get ready, you’re no longer scrolling through the whiplash of global horrors and cute cat cafe pics; instead you’re sketching a little doodle, or writing down a couple lines of poetry that arise in a small moment of listening.

📑 Instead of spinning your wheels rewriting and rewriting and rewriting the 9th chapter of your novel because you’re not really sure what comes next… instead you actually know exactly which questions to ask The GC to figure the next best move. And it feels easier to give yourself space, patience, and trust to wait a moment before pressing on.

🎸 And instead of thinking about how you’d like to get back to playing music again (for the 200th time), watching another month pass of no-contact with your instrument, you’re now coming up with lyrics and singing around the house again, and hearing sweet chord progressions in your dreams, and strumming your guitar for a few minutes after dinner.

In Creative Channel, we’re taking time, and pairing it with intention, inquisitiveness, and deeper attunement to meet Creativity in more places and moments in our lives…

💡 Are you ready to really feel and know the shape of your Creative Channel?

💡 Are you ready to feel like Creativity is your new bestie who totally has your back?

💡 Are you ready to discover the creative magic you can make when your orient toward Creativity more like a flower turns toward the sun (and less like a factory worker clocking in for another tough day)?

I’m excited to help you move in this direction as part of a six-week adventure where you get to travel solo most of the time — with all maps and tools and resources you need! — but also meet up with fellow-travelers here and there along the way, to share your journeys and learn from one another.

Studies show that creativity is declining in children — and has been for decades. The Torrance Test that examined creativity scores in more than 300,000 kids from kindergarten to 12th grade found that scores have decreased significantly since 1990 — more so for K through 3rd graders and next in 4th- through 6th-graders.

While we’re all adults here, we know that what’s happening for younger generations is the result of the same stuff we’ve been living through too — but the kids just get it younger than we did. But as pocket computers and screens have taken over our lives, and corporations are making trillions by trading in our attention, it’s no wonder kids are less creative than they used to be.

This means we probably are too. The fact that we’re studying child creativity but not adult creativity says a lot as well. There’s the assumption that if we’re creative as adults, it should be as a career, to make money, not just for fun — because that’s what kids do.

Even the Child Creativity Lab, which highlights this study, buys into the larger paradigm, when they note: “Given that today’s children are tomorrow’s workers and leaders, this Creativity Crisis is of national concern.”

The emphasis here on how we end up with a less-creative labor force says a lot. And doesn’t consider what happens to and for children when they experience creativity less than the children who came before them. The idea that creativity exists for productivity, marketplace innovation, and production of capital infiltrates SO DEEP, even, as we see above, among people who champion creativity.

We’re not going to hold on to Creativity by doing it barely, or just a little bit in secret, or only when we go away on an artist’s retreat, or only if we make sure it feels like work. We need to actually fight for it.

If we can instead see — and FEEL! — Creativity as a divine and sacred act, one that helps us time-travel and dimension-hop and be in realities that don’t adhere to all the false narratives we encounter all day, everyday… then we inherently WANT TO fight for Creativity. We’re willing to let go of notions that it’s not about how good we are at doing it, or whether we make money from it. We realize that what’s at stake is the wasting of a holy gift we get to access our entire lives, simply by existing.

Creative Channel is…

A trail map that will help you steer yourself back toward that divine relationship with Creativity, via your own intuition, divination, reflection, choice, and action.

Each week of our journey will focus on a different theme, and if you’ve known me for more than two seconds, you know we’ll be working with Tarot archetypes along the way. I’ll give you rich food-for-thought at the start of each week, along with practices, tools, and resources you can choose from to enact your own exploration and tending.

In the first week, for example, we’re preparing the way — making small adjustments to our lifestyle or creative space. Maybe that means less scrolling, or a little more gardening, or a couple hours finally going through our creative supplies. Then we’ll go a little further, and a little deeper — getting to know The GC, strengthening our Creative Channel, working with ideas, tending to emotions and beliefs, and allowing for change and transformation. (More on each week below.)

You get to decide what your journey looks like. But there’s also additional support if you need it, including a group of fellow travelers, 3 group check-ins along the way, weekly drop-in coaching if you want to use it, and discussions in our digital garden.

Oh! And, hi! 👋🏻 I’m Cecily, a creativity coach, writer, and Tarot reader who knows a lot about creative struggles and has been supporting Creative Spirits in many different ways for most of my adult life — teaching creative writing workshops in schools and community centers, helping writers complete and refine their manuscripts, and building creative communities and safe-havens anywhere I can.

My work today centers around my growing awareness of how capitalism and overlapping systems of oppression and extraction divorce us from the powerful Creative force that is for more than profit — it’s divine. Beyond all the “real world” experience I’ve had working in the world of creative arts, and writing and creating myself, these days I turn to the realms of mystery and magic to help us bring more art, beauty, and soulful expression into a world that is too paved-over, too flat, and too starved of lusciousness.

Over the years, I’ve helped hundreds of creative people see and embrace the inherent value of their creative work and protect the magical gift of Creativity that each of us experiences uniquely and universally. I’m here to help as many people as I can before I get absorbed back into the Great Creatrix! And I hope I get to walk with you on this journey!

Where We’re Going
& What We’re Exploring

Here’s what each week of our journey focuses on.
Click the plus sign on the right for more details!

  • Before we REALLY dive in, let’s make space and show The GC that we’re preparing for her visit! Working with the Ace of Pentacles and The Fool, we’ll make adjustments in our everyday lives (and/or spaces) that make Creativity even more approachable, accessible, and inviting. (The GC is always inviting, but usually we’ve got some junk standing in the way.) You might adjust screen time or scrolling habits. You might focus on daily routines and thought-patterns. Or you might finally organize your creative supplies so they’re always within reach.

Think: creating altars, hand-drawn habit trackers, collecting inspiration, and tidying the creative sanctuary.

  • Next, we’ll welcome the Great Creatrix into our world a bit more formally. We’ll see what it’s like to meet her in meditation, to brush past her on the street in a moment of synchronicity, to identify her in familiar objects or places we might encounter all the time. Working with The Empress and Queen of Wands, we’ll get a sense of how The GC likes to manifest for each of us, and what this tells us about our own creative path, longings, visions, and aspirations.

Think: visiting the oracle, meeting the creative crone in the woods, making tea for your creative fairy godmother, and crafting invocations to connect with The GC anytime, anywhere.

  • Creativity will make us feel things. And Creativity is a beautiful channel and container for what we feel. There are usually latent, repressed, or hidden emotions that step forward when we dance with Creativity in new ways. Maybe grief for the time we weren’t creating, or the rejection or fallout that made creating feel too risky, or the longing for that part of ourselves who wants to create freely. Working with the Queen of Cups and The World, we’ll give space and credence to the emotions that show up and practice different ways of acknowledging, honoring, and channeling our emotions into creative expressions.

Think: playlists to get emotions moving, dance breaks, writing odes to our feelings, creating energetic and symbolic containers for emotional processing, and moving through the world lighter and less burdened.

  • Now we’re ready to really lock in with our Creative Channel, to feel its true power, imagine it as a quantum structure, attune to its energy, and welcome the gifts it brings. Of course you’ve been connected to your Creative Channel before — probably recently! — but as we work with The Magician and The High Priestess (the most prominent channelers of the Tarot), you’ll understand and imagine your Creative Channel more fully and know how to tap in almost any time you need or want to. And how to tend to so with consistency.

Think: drawing and coloring portals and mandalas, energy meditations, dream journals, capturing ideas as they come, and possibly some light reading on wormholes.

  • Most likely, all the work we’ve done so far has initiated some lovely magic, and The GC is dropping juicy ideas through your Creative Channel. So, how can we best care for them? Working with the Page of Pentacles and Temperance, we’ll focus on tending to the ideas, letting ourselves play with them to see where we want to go (or if we want to set them aside). If you’ve received clarity about an existing project, this will be a time to sketch out your next moves, think through what’s ahead, and create your own road map for the next leg of your journey.

Think: consistency over discipline, connecting with vision when we’re not actively creating, balancing rumination with action, riding the waves that ebb and flow through our Creative Channel, conducting intuitive checks to see how we want to move and why.

  • Something has shifted. You’re becoming clear about several things you don’t want to go back to, and you’re embracing a new, expanded relationship with The GC. Working with the Knight of Wands and The Sun, we’ll reflect on and celebrate this sense of renewal and rebirth, noticing what new powers we can draw on to guide us forward.

Think: creatively channeled mission statements rendered in hybrid forms, sitting side-by-side with Future You and Past You simultaneously, honoring and celebrating your growth, cheering others on as they stand in their Creative Power.

How It Works + What’s Included

At the start of each week, you’ll receive a digital care package that includes:

  • a recorded audio exploring our theme for the week and two Tarot cards to guide us in our explorations

  • journaling prompts to help you reflect on your experience with the week’s theme and what you’d like to shift

  • a menu of practices to choose from to help you make subtle shifts with big, lasting effects

  • a Tarot spread to receive more personalized guidance from The GC around each theme

  • a guided meditation to use throughout the week to strengthen your Creative Channel, connect with our guiding archetypes, and tune in to your own intuitive wisdom

On Thursday of each week, I’ll share a community check-in post, so we can share how we’re working with the theme, and what feels good, weird, or confusing.

On Friday of most weeks, you can stop in for an “iced mocha coaching chat.”

I’m addicted to iced mochas this summer and love to chat with friends on Fridays while I sip one, so this is a drop-in coaching session for the group while I sip my deliciously cold concoction and answer your questions, help you connect the dots, or dive a little deeper into what’s unfolding for you. (These will be recorded and shared after.) Here are the dates…

  • Midway Check-In — Tuesday, September 23 / 4:30-6pm CT

  • Closing & Reflecting — Monday, October 13 / 6:30-8pm CT

And a few bonuses to make the journey even more fruitful!

  • If you’re not already in the Creative Magic Collective, you’ll get a free month of membership when Creative Channel closes (if you want to use it).

  • Everyone gets a free 30-minute call with me at the end of the journey to integrate and imagine what’s next.

  • 5 people who sign up (chosen at random) will get an audio interpretation of their opening Tarot spread.

  • 5 people who sign up (chosen at random) will get an audio interpretation of their closing Tarot spread.

What Creative Spirits
Say About My Work

This is a brand new offer, so I don’t have testimonials to share specifically for Creative Channel. But here’s what my clients, students, and community members say about how I work, what I offer, and how it impacts their Creativity…

“I feel like Cecily excavated my creativity in ways I didn't even know I needed before we started our work together. She was encouraging, supportive, and willing to provide structure. She is a gifted coach, guide and creative mentor. I know that I'll use the gifts I received from Cecily in my writing and in my life. I am forever grateful for what she gave me.” ~ LW

“Finding creative inspiration was never my problem, but often I become overwhelmed with ideas, almost paralyzed by them. I had difficulty deciding where to focus my energy and how to best achieve my goals, often leaving me with a sense that I was spinning my wheels. Cecily helped me work through my goals and assess my actions against those goals. She got to know me and my work, and her approach to coaching was bespoke and personalized, without the generic platitudes too often encountered in the coaching realm.” ~ AP

“Last year, during a journaling session with the Creative Magic Collective, I wrote about some goals for the future, and much of what I put onto paper that day has already manifested! I think the Collective has a really unique power to let us focus on individual growth while also feeling part of a beautiful whole.” ~MP

You’ve helped me shake out my proverbial rug, beating out the dirt and dust, but also given me tools to use when I’m on my own. It makes me feel as if we’ve worked through some old layers, and I’m able to move forward. I felt so stuck before, even if I knew it was of my own doing. I self-sabotage less and I feel like I’m self-regulating better. Which is huge.
— AK

“Before my work with Cecily I wasn't creatively brave. I have lived most of my life surrounded by creative people and participating in creative actions as an observer/supporter. I secretly and passionately wished I was able to participate in the world in a creative way, but I had an inner critic that never took a day off and a lifetime of participating is some very limiting thinking and adherence to societal nonsense. I was able to navigate all of this internal and external programming in a new way and start the work of casting off the old and walking into a present where I am drawing and writing and making and it's so much fun.” ~ BW

You might be wondering…

  • I’m not the boss of you, and this whole thing is really about checking in with your capacity and choosing what works for you. If you only listen to the weekly audio, use the meditation at least once each week, and work with at least one of the suggested practices, you will experience results. You can fold in a little more when or if you can or want to, but a little goes a long way here. More specifically, I recommend at least two hours across the entire week to connect with the theme and work some creative magic in your life!

  • You can keep working on your project as you like. You just want to fold in some of what’s suggested for each week as well. You may decide you want to slow down a little (temporarily) and feel into what we’re focusing on. But I always recommend following your energy and the flow, so if you’re blazing onward, keep truckin’!

  • This is a 100% noncompetitive space. In Creative Channel, we honor the fact that creativity is cyclical, and success is something we define for ourselves. The idea is to let go of how it should be or ideas of better / worse, accomplished / novice and just meet the divine energy of Creativity where it wants to find us. If you have a pattern of feeling jealous or making comparisons, this might be a nice space to gently work with such tendencies, and let some of it go, or reframe your perspective around what other people are doing. In my group spaces, we’re all at different levels, but each of us brings unique wisdom to every conversation, and we inspire each other all the time. The same will be true here.

  • You don’t. But good things do happen in community! Creative Channel centers the solo-journey first, but includes group support because I know it’s powerful and it’s the best way for me to support y’all deeply and strongly throughout the journey, ensuring that I’m giving you what you need.

  • I’m hosting Creative Channel on Circle, the same platform I use for my membership community (the Creative Magic Collective). I really like Circle, it’s pretty intuitive, and you don’t have to download an app — you can use the plain ol’ internet. But there is an app for desktop and mobile, which would allow you listen to the weekly audios while driving or taking a walk.
